AL SB420

Authorizes the Town of Pike Road in Montgomery County to levy up to an additional 25 mills ad valorem tax on taxable property within the town, per Section 217 of the Alabama Constitution of 1901.

Tax increase requires approval by majority vote of qualified electors in the Town of Pike Road at a special election held for that purpose.

Revenue from the additional tax shall be paid to the municipal general fund and allocated for public school purposes within the Town of Pike Road.

All ad valorem taxes in the town shall be levied, collected, administered, and enforced using the same procedures, requirements, and laws as state ad valorem taxes, with officials receiving standard fees and compensation applicable in Montgomery County.

Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
