• Applies exclusively to Perry County and establishes compensation for sheriffs taking office after the act's effective date.

• New sheriffs receive an annual salary of $65,000 plus an expense allowance up to $10,000 (as determined by the Perry County Commission), replacing all other salary and expense allowances.

• Sheriffs with 30 or more years of service on the effective date receive a combined salary and expense allowance totaling $75,000 annually instead of the standard $65,000 plus allowance.

• The $75,000 annual salary provision for long-serving sheriffs becomes permanent upon adoption of a constitutional amendment relating to Perry County sheriff compensation; otherwise, it repeals when any new sheriff takes office.

• The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
