SB436 Summary

• Amends Section 36-29-14 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to add United Ways of Alabama and its member United Ways to the list of entities eligible to participate in the State Employees' Insurance Board health insurance program.

• Participating United Ways may elect to have their officers, members, employees, and retired employees become eligible for health insurance coverage without liability to the state or the State Employees' Health Insurance Plan.

• Participation is optional with the State Employees' Insurance Board, and participating entities must adopt resolutions conforming to rules prescribed by the board.

• Participating employers must remit required premium amounts to the State Employees' Insurance Board and provide necessary information to the board.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
