• Alabama legislators may voluntarily forego any portion of their expense allowance authorized by Act 2007-75.

• Funds saved through reduced expense allowances are transferred from the Legislature's appropriation to the State Department of Education.

• Transferred funds are distributed to the Local Board or Boards of Education in the legislator's House or Senate district for school supplies.

• When multiple school districts exist in a legislator's district, funds are apportioned based on average daily membership in each school district.

• The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
