SB507 Summary

• Prohibits local boards of education from restricting enrolled students' participation in athletic activities or programs not affiliated with their enrolling school.

• Requires all public and nonpublic high schools in Alabama to grant immediate eligibility to any student who transfers into the school, regardless of school zone residence requirements.

• Prohibits public or nonpublic school teams from being prevented from competing against other public, nonpublic, or church school teams solely because they utilize transfer students.

• Bill becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval or upon otherwise becoming law.
