Deletes the October 1, 2011 deadline for the Alabama Sentencing Commission to submit voluntary truth-in-sentencing standards to the Legislature for consideration and implementation.

Removes the requirement that truth-in-sentencing standards be introduced during the 2011 Regular Session and become effective on October 1, 2011, if approved by the Legislature.

Standards must still be based on statewide historic time served for offenses with adjustments to reflect current sentencing policies, but no longer have a mandatory deadline for adoption.

Until truth-in-sentencing standards are adopted, the Sentencing Commission must continue to include progress reports on their development in annual reports to the Governor, Legislature, Chief Justice, and Attorney General.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
