SB64 Summary

• Amends Section 32-5A-263 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to authorize bicycle riders to signal a right turn by extending their right arm and hand horizontally from the right side of the bicycle.

• Currently requires bicycle riders to follow motor vehicle Rules of the Road, including signaling a right turn with the left arm extended upward.

• Adds a new subsection (d) to allow an alternative right turn hand signal method that is more practical for cyclists.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval, or when otherwise becoming law.
