AL SJR29

Creates a Joint Interim Legislative Committee on Open Meetings Legislation composed of three members from each house, appointed by the presiding officer of each house.

Committee membership must be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban and rural, and economic diversity of the state.

Committee shall study all facets of Alabama's Open Meetings Law and draft new or revised legislation to allow public boards and agencies to hold meetings by teleconference.

Committee must report findings, conclusions, and recommendations including proposed legislation to the Legislature by the 5th legislative day of the 2012 Regular Session, then dissolve.

Total committee expenditures shall not exceed $5,000, with members entitled to regular legislative compensation, per diem, and travel expenses for meeting attendance.
