• University of South Alabama president may appoint and employ police officers with full police officer powers and duties to protect university property and prevent trespass.

• Officers may eject trespassers from university buildings and grounds and arrest any person for any offense, transporting offenders to the appropriate district or municipal court.

• Officers must cooperate with Mobile and Fairhope municipal authorities and have jurisdiction coextensive with those municipalities' police jurisdictions.

• Officers are peace officers with statewide authority whose primary duty is enforcing law on university property, with limited exceptions for pursuing offenders or making arrests within university boundaries or officer's presence.

• Officers are prohibited from entering classrooms to enforce traffic or parking citations; act becomes effective on the first day of the third month after passage and approval.
