HB207 Summary

• Amends Section 17-5-8 of the Alabama Code to impose a $500 per-election contribution limit from individuals, corporations, business groups, unions, political parties, or other legally recognized entities to candidates for public office.

• Contribution limit applies to each separate election in which a candidate's name appears on the ballot (primary, special, runoff, or general election).

• Corporate contribution limits do not apply to electioneering communications, but existing corporate contribution restrictions continue to apply to contributions made directly to principal campaign committees, political committees, and political parties.

• Effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
