Amends Section 25-4-73 of the Alabama Code relating to weekly unemployment benefit payments to further define "compensable week"

Clarifies that the one-week waiting period with no benefits payable applies during the first compensable week within a benefit year for benefit years effective on or after the bill's effective date

Removes language restricting benefits after the 13th compensable week of paid benefits and prior to the 14th compensable week, replacing it with a requirement for a waiting period during the first compensable week only

Specifies that the waiting week shall not be counted as a week of unemployment for purposes of benefit calculations

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor
