• Amends Section 9-13-60 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to add a new criminal violation for willfully and knowingly removing timber or other forest products of another by means of deception, as defined in Section 13A-8-1.

• Violation of the amended statute constitutes a Class A misdemeanor punishable as provided by law.

• Exempts utilities and corporations engaged in providing electric service, and their employees, contractors, agents, or representatives acting within the scope of their employment or agency, from the timber theft prohibitions.

• Became effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
