Deletes the requirement that attendance officers provide written notice to parents before bringing criminal prosecution in cases where a child's nonenrollment or nonattendance is intentional and without valid reason.

Requires local school superintendents to distribute copies of the school attendance policy and applicable sections of Alabama's Compulsory School Attendance Law to all parents, guardians, or persons having control of enrolled children at the start of each school year.

Requires parents, guardians, or persons having control of enrolled children to sign a statement verifying they have read and received notice of both state and local school attendance policies.

Maintains existing authority of attendance officers to investigate cases of nonenrollment and nonattendance and to bring criminal prosecution when violations are found.

Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
