Amends Section 11-43-50 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to authorize municipal council presiding officers to cancel meetings when a quorum will not be available.

Council members may notify the presiding officer in writing when they will be unable to attend a meeting.

If the presiding officer receives sufficient written notice indicating a quorum will not be present, the presiding officer may cancel the meeting and provide notice of the cancellation.

If a canceled meeting is a regular meeting, the presiding officer may reschedule it with proper notice according to Section 36-25A-3(b).

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
