Jacksonville State University Board of Trustees members may participate in meetings via telephone conference, video conference, or similar communications equipment where all participants can hear each other simultaneously.

Remote participation counts as physical presence for all purposes, but a majority of a quorum must be physically present at the noticed meeting location to conduct business.

Board members and committees must comply with the Alabama Open Meetings Act when using electronic communications.

Public members must be given the opportunity to simultaneously listen to or observe all meetings conducted via telephone or video conference.

The act became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor on May 16, 2012.
