HB559 Summary

• Mobile County Commission may impose a special issuance fee not exceeding $5 on motor vehicle registrations, boat renewals or registrations, manufactured home registrations, business license applications, and other instruments registered with the Office of the License Commissioner.

• Fee is collected by the license commissioner and is in addition to all other existing fees, taxes, and charges.

• Revenue from the issuance fee shall be deposited in a segregated account and used for preservation and storage of registrations and licenses, and for purchasing, installing, improving, upgrading, and maintaining equipment and technology in the Office of the License Commissioner.

• Act does not alter existing law relating to charges and fees collected by the License Commissioner of Mobile County.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval.
