• Marshall County Board of Education consists of five members: four elected from separate single-member districts (Ashbury, Douglas, Brindlee Mountain, and DAR) and one elected at-large from the entire school system.

• District candidates must be residents of their district for at least 90 consecutive days before qualifying as a candidate and must reside in the district throughout their entire term of office.

• The board may change district boundaries following each federal decennial census to comply with one-person, one-vote constitutional requirements, with approval required at least 180 days before the affected election.

• Any boundary changes require the board to publish notice in a newspaper of general circulation for at least two consecutive weeks, display proposed boundary maps, and file certified copies of the resolution with the Marshall County Judge of Probate.

• The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval, conditioned upon ratification of an amendment to the Alabama Constitution of 1901; current board members are exempt from its provisions.
