HB626 Summary

• Amends Section 16-56-5 of the Alabama Code to allow standing committees of Troy University's Board of Trustees to meet via electronic communications.

• Standing committees (excluding the executive committee) may meet by telephone conference, video conference, or other electronic means if the committee has no authority other than to make recommendations to the full board.

• Requires all persons participating in electronic meetings and members of the public to hear each other simultaneously during committee proceedings.

• All electronic committee meetings must be properly noticed and comply with the Alabama Open Meetings Act.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon becoming law.
