Vacancies on the Houston County Commission due to death, disability, resignation, or nonresidency shall be filled by special elections called by the judge of probate to fill any unexpired term.

Notice of special elections must be advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in the county for four weeks prior to the election.

Any previous vacancy fillings on the commission made by special election are validated and deemed valid under the authority of this act.

The act is retroactive and curative in nature and becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
