AL HB97

Amends Section 16-64-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to classify Alabama National Guard members as resident students eligible for in-state tuition rates at public institutions of higher education.

Requires Alabama National Guard members to have served for at least two years immediately preceding qualification for resident tuition and must continue membership while enrolled.

Applies to non-minor students who meet the residency requirements, adding National Guard membership as an alternative pathway to resident student classification.

Became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, passing the House on March 8, 2012 and Senate on May 16, 2012.
