House Joint Resolution commending The LaFayette Sun newspaper for its longevity, community contributions, and journalistic excellence in Chambers County, Alabama.

The newspaper was first published on April 1, 1841 as The Alabama Standard, and has operated continuously under various names including The East Alabamian, The Chambers Herald, and The LaFayette Sun (since 1880).

The LaFayette Sun is published every Wednesday and is the oldest newspaper in Chambers County, with three former editors honored in the Alabama Press Association Hall of Honor: Johnson Jones Hooper, Samuel Herren Oliver, and Bonnie Duncan Hand.

The Hand family has owned the newspaper since 1940, with Mike Hand serving as editor and publisher as of 2012.
