HJR380 Summary

• Creates the Jefferson County Health Care Service Interim Task Force composed of six members including representatives from Cooper Green Mercy Hospital, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Jefferson County Health Department.

• Task force shall study adequacy of funding, services, and health care for indigent citizens of Jefferson County; develop a mission statement for indigent health care delivery; and study transferring Cooper Green Mercy Hospital property to a health care authority.

• Governor shall set the date for the first meeting where members elect a chair and vice chair by majority vote; task force meets at times and locations specified by the chair or upon vote of four or more members.

• Task force must submit an initial report to the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation within 90 days and a final report to the Legislature by the fifth legislative day of the 2013 Regular Session, then dissolves.

• Members receive travel and per diem expenses equal to state employees with total task force expenditures capped at $5,000, funded through legislative appropriations.
