• Commends Amanda Whitaker for being selected Miss Gardendale Magnolia Festival 2012 and recognizes her accomplishments and community service.

• Amanda Whitaker graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biology and will compete in the Miss Alabama contest in June 2012 at Samford University as part of Miss America preliminaries.

• Her pageant platform is "Mentoring: Impacting Young Lives," under which she has served as a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program since 2007 and established the Princess Club mentoring program for girls ages 5-10 in the Gardendale area.

• Will attend Dental School at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in July 2012 and will perform a lyrical dance to "Only Hope" by Mandy Moore in the talent portion of the pageant.

• Resolution adopted by the Alabama House of Representatives on 09-MAY-12 and the Senate on 16-MAY-12, extending best wishes for her performance in the Miss Alabama Competition and future endeavors.
