HJR 81 Summary

• Designates the portion of Alabama Highway 143 between Mile Markers 5 and 6 in Millbrook, Alabama as the "Officer James Fezatte Memorial Highway."

• Officer Fezatte served over 20 years in the United States Air Force, fought in the Gulf War, and was killed in a vehicle crash on March 28, 2007 while responding to a civil disturbance call as a Millbrook Police Department officer.

• Requests the Alabama Department of Transportation erect appropriate signage incorporating the Great Seal of Alabama and, if possible, the U.S. Air Force emblem and Millbrook Police Department emblem, with all signage costs paid by private funds from the Fezatte Family.

• The memorial designation does not alter the common highway designation or affect postal or address designations along that highway section.

• A copy of the resolution shall be presented to Officer Fezatte's wife, children, mother, and siblings to honor his service to his country, state, and the City of Millbrook.
