Designates March 8, 2012, as Alabama Cross-Disabilities Awareness Day in the Alabama House of Representatives

Acknowledges the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) signed into law on July 26, 1990, and its intent to ensure equal treatment and eliminate discrimination against individuals with disabilities

Recognizes that disability is a natural part of human experience and affirms the rights of individuals with disabilities to live independently, make choices, and participate fully in all aspects of society

Emphasizes the importance of family, friends, and community support services in enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and the need for employer awareness of their capabilities in competitive work settings

Affirms state goals of providing individuals with disabilities opportunities to make informed choices, live in homes and communities, pursue meaningful lives, and achieve full inclusion in society
