Recognizes Birmingham Police Officer Katherine Snider as a nominee for the 2012 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, Alabama's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

Officer Snider is an eight-year veteran of the Birmingham Police Department assigned as a Crime Scene Technician.

During the April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak in Birmingham, Officer Snider navigated the hazardous Pratt City/Smithfield area and fashioned a tourniquet that saved a victim from bleeding to death after a severe leg injury.

Officer Snider continued searching through destroyed homes to render aid and comfort to additional victims affected by the tornado.

Directs that Officer Snider receive a copy of the resolution as evidence of the legislature's admiration and esteem.
