Recognizes Cottonwood Police Officer George William Taylor as a nominee for the 2012 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, Alabama's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

Officer Taylor responded on September 9, 2011, to a structure fire at an occupied residence and crawled beneath smoke and heat to locate and pull a resident from the burning building with assistance from another officer.

An explosion occurred as Officer Taylor was exiting the building, blowing him from the porch and causing him to strike his head, resulting in traumatic brain injury and subsequent seizures.

Officer Taylor has been on medical leave since the accident and is recognized as an exemplar of dedicated law enforcement personnel who provide prompt and professional response during times of crisis.

The House of Representatives directs that Officer Taylor receive a copy of this resolution as a token of admiration and esteem.
