TeeAKA Youth Group of Anniston, Alabama, sponsored by Iota Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is commended for over 29 years of sisterhood and service to empower young women.

TeeAKA was founded in 1983 by the late Mrs. Mazy Wilson, the late Mrs. Queen Esther Kitele, and the late Mrs. Betty Smedly to instill courage, confidence, and character in young girls while encouraging community service.

Leadership passed to Mrs. Teresia J. Hall, Mrs. Barbara Mack, and Mrs. Lovelle Buchanan in 2006, who expanded community service projects including feeding the hungry, Sickle Cell Anemia Walk, and Relay for Life.

Mrs. Hattye K. Peters, Dr. Ruby Evans, and Mrs. Doris Stallworth Barron are specially commended for impacting girls to strive for excellence, honored at the fifth annual Ball "Hold Fast to Your Dream" on May 26, 2012.

House of Representatives congratulates the TeeAKA Youth Group and the three honorees for their worthwhile accomplishments and contributions to sisterhood and service.
