Recognizes the 20th Annual Delta Day at the Alabama State Capitol on Thursday, April 19, 2012, and commends Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Delta Sigma Theta was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University and has grown to over 250,000 members in more than 1,000 chapters throughout the United States and abroad.

The sorority follows a national Five Point Program addressing Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.

Alabama recognizes Delta Sigma Theta members serving in the state legislature, including Senator Linda Coleman and Representatives Laura Hall, Merika Coleman, Mary Moore, Pebblin Warren, and Dr. Yvonne Kennedy (19th National President).

The resolution presents commendations to Cheryl W. Turner, Interim Southern Regional Director, honoring the organization's contributions to educational, civic, and social advancement.
