Ms. Ethel White is honored and commended for more than 30 years of dedicated service to the education and welfare of children and families in Alabama.

She worked as Director of Head Start in Pensacola, Florida for 15 years before returning to Auburn, where she served as Director of Auburn Day Care Centers, Incorporated for more than 24 years and achieved accreditation.

She is a native of Auburn, Alabama, graduated from J.F. Drake High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Tennessee State University.

She has been actively involved in her community through the Federation of Child Care Centers of Alabama, Kiwanis Club of Greater Auburn, Habitat for Humanity WEHELP Coalition, Order of Eastern Star Rose of Sharon Chapter 914, and the Committee for the Preservation of Auburn's African-American History.

She is an active member of White Street Missionary Baptist Church and has a daughter, Elizabeth Rena White, and granddaughter, Isabella.
