SB115 Summary

• Continues the existence and functioning of the Alabama Board of Electrical Contractors under the Alabama Sunset Law, preserving Sections 34-36-1 to 34-36-18 of the Code of Alabama 1975.

• Requires applicants for electrical contractor licensure to be United States citizens or legally present in the United States with appropriate federal documentation.

• Allows the board to examine applicants at least once every three months and to recognize licenses issued by other states with equal or higher standards of practice.

• Permits individuals who passed a nationally standardized electrical examination in Alabama by Block and Associates, International Code Council, Experior, Promissor, Thomson Prometric, PROV, or other board-approved examiners with a minimum score of 70 percent before January 1, 2010, or 75 percent after that date to apply for licensure without further examination until July 1, 2011.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
