SB120 Summary

• Continues the existence and functioning of the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling until October 1, 2016, pursuant to the Alabama Sunset Law.

• Requires that no more than one board member from any congressional district may be appointed to serve at the same time, effective after the bill's passage.

• Allows professional counselors whose licenses lapsed for 15 years or less to reinstate their licenses upon payment of $500 and completion of 40 hours of continuing education, provided they have worked in a profession involving counseling for at least 8 years.

• Preserves Code of Alabama 1975 sections 34-8A-1 through 34-8A-24 governing the board's structure, duties, and licensing procedures.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
