SB149 Summary

• Amends Section 17-5-8 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to require campaign finance reports to include the occupation and employer name of contributors, in addition to the existing requirement to disclose contributor names.

• For political action committees, identification must include the name, occupation, employer, and city of residence of each person contributing more than $100 in the calendar year.

• For principal campaign committees and candidates, identification must include the occupation of the contributor for contributions exceeding $100.

• Mandates electronic filing of contributions and expenditures for legislative, state school board, and statewide elections beginning with the 2014 election cycle, with exemptions for committees receiving $10,000 or less per election cycle.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2012, and is known as "The Alabama Full Disclosure Act."
