• Amends Section 13A-8-192 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to make identity theft a Class B felony.

• Expands the definition of identity theft to include obtaining employment through the use of another person's identifying information without authorization or consent.

• Establishes a seven-year statute of limitations for prosecutions brought under identity theft statutes.

• Exempts from prosecution cases where a person obtains another's identity solely to misrepresent age for obtaining alcoholic beverages, tobacco, or age-restricted privileges.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
