Any member of the Alabama Legislature may elect to forego any portion of the expense allowance authorized by Act 2007-75.

Funds saved through reduced expense allowances are transferred from the Legislature's appropriation to the State Department of Education.

Transferred funds are distributed to Local Boards of Education in the House or Senate District of the member who elected to reduce their allowance.

Distributed funds must be expended for school supplies, and if multiple school districts exist in a member's district, funds are apportioned based on average daily membership in each district.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
