SB205 Summary

• Restricts public housing authorities in Class 3 municipalities (except those organized under Act 618 of 1973) from exercising eminent domain power without approval from the municipal governing body.

• Requires public housing authorities in Class 3 municipalities to purchase real property only after providing notice of intent to surrounding property owners.

• Mandates notice of proposed property purchases be published in a newspaper of general circulation for three consecutive weeks prior to execution of any binding purchase agreement.

• Limits property purchases by these authorities to public housing purposes only.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
