Members of the Employees' Retirement System, Teachers' Retirement System, or Judicial Retirement Fund must forfeit the employer-paid portion of retirement benefits and all interest or gains on that portion upon a guilty plea, no contest plea, or final conviction of a felony offense related to performance of official duties.

Forfeiture applies to active members, inactive members with accrued benefits, and retired members in any court jurisdiction including Alabama courts, other state courts, or United States federal court.

Officers and employees of the three retirement systems are granted immunity from civil or criminal liability for actions taken to implement this act.

The act's provisions are severable, meaning if any portion is found invalid or unconstitutional, the remainder remains in effect.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
