Amends Section 13A-5-40 of the Alabama Code to add murder of a person who has a protection order issued against the defendant as a capital offense.

Designates this new capital offense as subdivision (19) in the list of capital offenses, making it punishable by death.

The bill is excluded from Amendment 621 requirements because it defines a new crime rather than requiring new local expenditures.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
