• Enacts the Alabama Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery Act to allow out-of-state litigants to conduct depositions and discovery in Alabama.

• Requires parties to submit a foreign subpoena to a circuit court clerk in the county where discovery is sought, and the clerk must promptly issue an Alabama subpoena incorporating the foreign subpoena's terms.

• Mandates that issued subpoenas include counsel contact information and prominently display notice that recipients have 15 days to object in writing to the issuing party and local court clerk.

• Applies Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure and state law to subpoenas issued under this act, with conflicts between Rule 28(b)(3) and Rule 28(c) superseded by this act.

• Takes effect January 1, 2013, and applies to discovery requests in cases pending on or filed after the effective date.
