SB234 Summary

• Amends Section 11-101A-8 of the Alabama Code to expand the powers of county and municipal corporations that provide buildings and facilities for lease to the United States.

• Adds new authority power (23) allowing these corporations to expend funds in support of federal facilities located in Alabama, including promotion of such facilities and support for their growth and activities.

• Includes legislative declaration that expenditures made under this new power shall not be considered a lending of credit or granting of public money to individuals, associations, or corporations under state constitutional or statutory provisions.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval, or upon otherwise becoming law.
