• Amends Section 13A-11-17 of the Alabama Code to increase the prohibited protest distance from 500 feet to 1,000 feet from the entrance of a funeral facility or church.

• Expands the crime of disrupting a funeral or memorial service to include protests within 1,000 feet during the 60 minutes before, during, or immediately after the service.

• Maintains existing penalties: Class A misdemeanor for first conviction and Class C felony for each subsequent conviction.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.

• Exempted from Amendment 621 constitutional requirements regarding local expenditures because it defines or amends an existing crime.
