Amends Section 36-29A-1 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to include members of the Alabama National Guard and Alabama State Defense Force on active military service for the state in the State Employees Injury Compensation Program for personal injuries arising from accidents during their service.

Authorizes the Military Department to pay medical expenses for National Guard and Alabama State Defense Force members who become ill during active military service or sustain minor injuries directly resulting from active military service that are not covered by the State Employees Injury Compensation Program.

Repeals Section 31-2-85 of the Code of Alabama 1975, which previously provided compensation for injury, disability, or death of Alabama National Guard or State Defense Force members.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
