Establishes the crime of home invasion as unauthorized entry by force, coercion, or subterfuge into an occupied dwelling with intent to use force or violence upon another person or commit robbery.

Classifies home invasion as a Class A felony in Alabama.

Exempts law enforcement officers acting within the line and scope of official duties from the home invasion statute.

Excludes the bill from Amendment 621 requirements regarding local expenditures because it defines a new crime.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval, or upon otherwise becoming law.
