AL SB326

Amends Section 9-3-18 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to authorize volunteer fire departments and rescue squads to dispose of property donated by governmental entities unless otherwise specified at the time of donation.

Changes existing law that required donated property to be returned to the donating agency if disposed of; new provision allows organizations to retain disposal rights by default.

Applies to donations from the state, counties, municipalities, fire districts, water districts, sewer districts, garbage districts, school districts, and other public governmental entities or political subdivisions.

Designates organized volunteer fire departments, organized rescue squads, and nonprofit air rescue organizations as public in nature due to their role in protecting public health, safety, and welfare.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
