AL SB345

Establishes a new Class C felony crime of "corruption of an election" under Section 13A-10-64 of the Alabama Code.

Makes it illegal to knowingly offer, make, solicit, coordinate, facilitate, structure, or authorize campaign contributions from proceeds of illegal activity to candidates, public officials, or political action committees.

Prohibits candidates, public officials, political action committee chairs or treasurers, and other persons from soliciting or accepting contributions they know are paid from proceeds of illegal activity.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.

Exempts the bill from certain constitutional requirements regarding local expenditures because it defines a new crime.
