SB346 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code Section 9-11-244 to allow whitetail deer to be hunted on private lands within 100 yards of a supplemental feeder if the feeder is hidden from the hunter's line of sight by natural vegetation or terrain features.

• Defines "outside of the line of sight" as being "hidden from view by natural vegetation or naturally occurring terrain features" for purposes of the feeder distance requirement.

• Prohibits the new hunting allowance on public lands, maintaining existing bait hunting restrictions in those areas.

• Addresses landowner concerns by clarifying that supplemental feeding during deer season will not result in inadvertent violations of hunting-over-bait laws.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
