SB373 Summary

• Amends Section 11-43-50 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to authorize municipal council presiding officers to cancel meetings when a quorum will not be present.

• Allows council members to notify the presiding officer in writing of their inability to attend a council meeting.

• Permits the presiding officer to cancel a meeting and give notice if sufficient written notice is received indicating that a quorum will not be present.

• Allows the presiding officer to reschedule a canceled regular meeting if proper notice is given pursuant to Section 36-25A-3.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
