SB379 Summary

• Prohibits obscuring, removing, or rendering illegible any information on beverage labels, packages, or containers related to production information, best before dates, or other disclosures.

• Prohibits storing or transporting any beverage product that bears altered, obscured, removed, or illegible labeling as described above.

• Establishes penalties of up to $500 per offense for violations; increases to up to $5,000 for violations involving 200 or more beverage units.

• Exempts alterations made by or at the direction of trademark owners, authorized manufacturers, alcoholic beverages, and nonprofit or non-commercial fund-raising organizations.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
