SB424 Summary

• Amends Code of Alabama Sections 11-65-2 and 11-65-5 regarding racing commissions in Class 1 municipalities.

• Expands the definition of "host county House delegation" and "host county Senate delegation" to include all members of the respective legislative delegations, rather than limiting to members whose districts are composed of all or a majority of residents in the host county.

• Changes the procedure for filling commission vacancies by requiring the chair of the host county House or Senate legislative delegation to call the meeting to make appointments, instead of the mayor of the sponsoring municipality.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
