SB49 Summary

• Amends Section 16-5-10 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to require the Alabama Commission on Higher Education to establish a schedule of programmatic review fees for non-Alabama institutions of postsecondary education seeking to offer instructional programs in the state.

• Authorizes the commission to revise the fee schedule from time to time upon reasonable notice at its discretion.

• Requires all programmatic review fees collected from non-Alabama institutions of postsecondary education to be deposited into the State Treasury to the credit of the commission.

• Maintains the existing requirement that no non-Alabama institution of postsecondary education may offer instructional programs or units within Alabama without prior approval of the commission.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
